Hutchison Ports Australia have received Protected Industrial Action (PIA) by the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) at their Sydney terminal, Port Botany.

YARD OPERATION HOURS MON 21/06 TO SUN 27/06

Hutchison Ports Brisbane would like to advise their customers of the following changes to yard operations just for the specified dates:

MON 21/06 0700 - 2300

TUE 22/06 CLOSED MUA Protected Industrial Action Work Stoppage

WED 23/06 1500 - 2300 : MUA Protected Industrial Action Work Stoppage 0700 - 1500

THU 24/06 1500 - 2300 : MUA Protected Industrial Action Work Stoppage 0700 - 1500

FRI 25/06 1500 - 2300 : MUA Protected Industrial Action Work Stoppage 0700 - 1500

SAT 26/06 CLOSED

SUN 27/06 CLOSED

 

UPDATE: 15 JUNE 2021

As of Saturday 12th June 12:01am:

  1. An unlimited number of bans on the performance of upgrades and/or work in higher Levels for an indefinite period commencing 12:01am Saturday 12 June 2021; and
  2. An unlimited number of bans on the performance of shift extensions for an indefinite period commencing 12:01am Saturday 12 June 2021; and
  3. An unlimited number of bans on the performance of call-ins or late calls for an indefinite period commencing 12:01am Saturday 12 June 2021; and
  4. An unlimited number of bans on the performance of working advanced or delayed start times for an indefinite period commencing 12:01am Saturday 12 June 2021; and
  5. Six consecutive four-hour stoppages of work from 12:01am Saturday 12 June 2021 till 12:01am Sunday 13 June.
  6. A ban on straddle cranes / shuttles performing any twin lifting operations for an indefinite period commencing 12:01am Saturday 12 June 2021; and
  7. All discharge and back loading movements of containers will only be carried out in order of sequence of load plan for an indefinite period commencing 12:01am Saturday 12 June 2021; and
  8. The wearing of union merchandise, logo's, trademarks, badges or stickers for an indefinite period commencing 12:01am Saturday 12 June 2021.
  9. Bans on performance of overtime for an indefinite period commencing commencing 12:01am Saturday 12 June 2021

 

The terminal has also been notified of the following:

  1. Four consecutive four-hour stoppages of work from 0700 am Tuesday the 22nd of June 2021 till 2300 Tuesday the 22nd of June.
  2. Two consecutive four-hour stoppages from 0700 Wednesday the 23rd of June until 1500 Wednesday the 23rd of June.
  3. Two consecutive four hour stoppages from 0700 Thursday the 24th of June until 1500 Thursday the 24th of June.

 

The following disruptions are directed at the Sydney Terminal:

  1. Yard shifts will not be in operation due to the industrial action and low import volumes.

UPDATE: 11 JUNE 2021

The following disruptions include:

  1. A stoppage of work of 24 hours duration, commencing 06:00 Saturday 12th to 06:00 Sunday 13th June 2021
  2. A stoppage of work of 24 hours duration, commencing 23:59 Monday 14th to 23:59 Tuesday 15th June 2021.

This PIA by the MUA directly impacts all employees of the Sydney International Container Terminal and Hutchison Ports will be covered by the proposed enterprise agreement and includes:

 

  • All employees employed for operations at Port Botany, Sydney
  • All employees who are members of the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union - The Maritime Union of Australia Division.
